The Cybernegress needs a chill pill

I'mma need y'all to calm me down.

Long ago, this blog was an advice column (and can be again, ladies, and gents, if you send me your questions!), but I need advice from you. Without getting into specifics, a situation at work has made me rather salty. Repeated attempts to bring attention to the problem have been ignored. Essentially, I need someone to tell me that a job that pays the rent and makes it possible for me to finish grad school is more important than righteous indignation.

Thank you in advance.

Don't know what happened at your job, CyberN, and I can understand why you aren't revealing too many details. However, you probably know already that at a given moment at most jobs somebody is taking advantage of someone else, or people are spreading rumors, or attacking someone else's reputation in order to advance their own careers. I would say don't let it bother you, but it sure bothers me. There isn't even a guarantee that being the more mature, more reasonable, and more honorable person will ensure success. But if you do your best to be mature, reasonable, and honorable, you will at least feel better about how you handled things. It sounds like you're trying to keep from flying off the handle about something and that's typically the right move. If you're going to complain about whatever problem you're having, try to use your anger by developing an eloquent manner of making your case. I hope this helps, but maybe I'm on the wrong track. Anyway, I've handled things the wrong way enough times to change my approach. Easier said than done, though.
