Days after Vanity Fair printed a brutal profile on her, Sarah Palin resigns as governor. Word on the curb is that she's gearing up for a presidential run. At least she's doing it right now, while the press is so obviously on her side.
The press conference was painful to watch. There's more than a hint of anger and panic in her voice: she's obnoxiously taking credit for positive aspects of her governorship, and very clearly blaming everyone else in the world for what went wrong. For God's sake--she suggested that the ethics suits against her in Alaska took money away from schools and police stations. If she thinks this scattered, uberdefensive screech for attention is going to get her up well for 2012, she's quite possibly clinically insane.
For her sake, I hope she's leaving for "family reasons," because if she tries a run for president, she'll be torn apart.
